NATIVE

Habit: Subshrub or shrub generally 2--7 dm. 

Leaf: 1--5 cm, +- obovate, deeply 3--5-lobed to nearly 2-pinnately compound, rolled under, often becoming +- glabrous adaxially. 

Inflorescence: heads 3--30+; peduncle 0--2.5(9) cm; involucre 3--7 mm, bell-shaped; phyllaries 4--7, obtuse, keeled, strongly overlapping, +- free; receptacle +- convex. 

Ray Flower: (0)4--6(8); ray 2--5 mm. 

Disk Flower: 10--75; corolla 2--4 mm, puberulent to glandular; anther ovate. Fruit: 2--4 mm; pappus generally < 1 mm. 

Note: Highly variable, intergrading polyploid complex; hybridizes with Eriophyllum lanatum
