Annual, ± conspicuously spreading-bristly below

Stem generally branched above

Leaves < 10 cm; basal coarsely dentate to shallowly cut, petiole 0 or short, winged; cauline oblong to ovate, entire to coarsely dentate, sessile, clasping

Flower: sepals 3–7 mm, barely pouched at base; petals 5–10 mm, cream-yellow, margins not scarious, not wavy; style 0 or < 4 mm

Fruit ± reflexed, 2–8 cm, often curved

Ecology: Open, dry areas

Elevation: 400–2200 m.  

Bioregional distribution: e South Coast (w Riverside Co.), e Peninsular Ranges, w edge Sonoran Desert 

Flowering time: Apr–Jun
