Stem: branches ± erect from base, 7–70 cm, with short, translucent hairs below

Leaves: basal in ± erect cluster, 1–2-pinnate, glabrous or short-hairy; axis and lobes linear

Inflorescence: cluster, loose; flowers 1–10; pedicels yellow-glandular

Flower: calyx 3–5 mm, generally short-hairy, lobes acute, membrane generally blue, width < ribs; corolla 6–9 mm, tube included in calyx, throat cup-shaped, yellow, not spotted, lobes lavender or white; stamens, style exerted

Fruit 4–5 mm, < calyx

Seeds 18–30

Ecology: Open, sandy or rocky, generally grassy areas

Elevation: 200–1900 m.  

Bioregional distribution: e San Francisco Bay Area (Mount Hamilton Range), Inner South Coast Ranges, Southwestern California 

Distribution outside California: Baja California
