A tall, slightly downy herbaceous perennial with hollow, sometimes purple stems. The large leaves are pinnately divided and fern-like. Tiny white 5-petaled flowers are arranged in umbels. Often very common along lanes and roadsides.

Flowering period: April-June

Habitat: Hedgegrows, embankments, woodland margins, and clearings.
