Stem: generally 15--80 cm. 

Leaf: basal generally 6--15 cm, lateral leaflet pairs generally 3, terminal leaflet generally 15--40 mm, obovate, teeth +- double, +- 6--16 per side. 

Inflorescence: not leafy, spreading, branch angle generally 25--55°; pedicels generally 2--10 mm, lowermost to 20 mm. 

Flower: hypanthium bractlets 1.5--4 mm, 0.5--1 mm wide; sepals +- reflexed, generally 4--6 mm, +- obtuse; petals generally 3--4 mm, 2--2.5 mm wide, narrow-obovate, yellow. 

Ecology: Moist or +- shaded places; 

Elevation: 450--2600 m. 

Bioregional Distribution: KR, NCoRH, CaRH, SNH, SnGb, SnBr, PR; 

Distribution Outside California: southern Oregon, western Nevada, northern Baja California.
