Perennial, hairy

Stem 10–20 cm

Leaf: lobes generally 5, 10–16 mm, linear

Inflorescence: cluster, terminal, bracted; flowers generally sessile

Flower: calyx 9–10 mm, densely hairy, membrane generally obscure, 1/2 calyx length; corolla funnel-shaped, tube 12–15 mm, white or pale yellow, throat yellow, lobes 6–9 mm, white; stamens generally exserted; stigmas slightly exserted

Ecology: Open, wooded areas

Elevation: 1700–2500 m.  

Bioregional distribution: High Sierra Nevada, East of Sierra Nevada.Generally self-pollinated. Distinguished from  L. nuttallii by generally larger features, chromosome number
