Bulb 9–15 mm, ovoid to ± spheric; outer coat brown to gray, sculpture laterally elongate, V-shaped, herringbone-like

Stem 15–35 cm

Leaves 2–3, < stem, ± cylindric

Inflorescence: flowers generally 10–40; pedicels 10–35 mm

Flower 8–13 mm; perianth parts rose-purple, outer ovate, entire, inner narrower, finely dentate, curled, tip ± recurved; ovary crests 3, minute, 2-lobed, central

Ecology: Clay slopes, including serpentine

Elevation: < 800 m.  

Bioregional distribution: Central Western California
