Habit: Subshrub. 

Stem: 3--10 dm. 

Leaf: lobes palmate, 3--12 mm, sharp-tipped. 

Flower: open during day; calyx lobes equal, membrane much wider than lobes; corolla salverform, lobes 9--18 mm, elliptic, obovate, or round, generally pink; stamens attached in mid tube. 

Fruit: < calyx, obovoid. 

Seed: 12--30, not gelatinous when wet. 

Ecology: Scrub, forest, coastal strand; 

Elevation: < 1500 m. 

Bioregional Distribution: s CCo, s SCoRO, n&c SW. 

Flowering Time: Jan--Jul
