Treatment from The Jepson Manual (1993):

Flower: corolla weakly to moderately bilateral, generally white to pink, upper lip 3–7 mm, generally 1/2–3/4 tube, lobe bases maroon-streaked, lower lip 2–5 mm, lobe tips generally acute; longer stamens < upper lip

Ecology: Common. Desert washes, flats, slopes, sandy to gravelly soils

Elevation: generally < 1800 m.  

Bioregional distribution: sw San Joaquin Valley, East of Sierra Nevada, Desert 

Distribution outside California: to sw Utah, w Arizona, n Mexico

Flowering time: Mar–Jun

Weakly bilateral forms are self-pollinated

Synonyms: Langloisia s. (Torr.) Greene
