Stem 20–60 cm, generally branched above; base bulblet-bearing

Leaves: basal 10–30 cm, withering

Inflorescence: flowers 1–4, erect; bracts 2–10 cm, opposite

Flower: perianth bowl-shaped; sepals 20–30 mm, purple-spotted near base; petals 20–50 mm, white, tinged lilac, purple-spotted near base, nearly glabrous, nectary not depressed, oblong, densely branched-hairy

Fruit erect, 2–5 cm, not angled

Ecology: UNCOMMON. Heavy soil, open grassland or scrub

Elevation: < 700 m.  

Bioregional distribution: s Central Coast, w South Coast, especially Channel Islands.Threatened by development

Horticultural information: In cultivation.
