Habit: Annual 10--60+ cm, erect. 

Leaf: 1.5--5(7) cm, generally strigose and +- spreading-bristly on margins, midveins, occasionally ascending rough-hairy, bulbous-based hairs +- dense. 

Inflorescence: bracts generally 0. 

Flower: calyx 2--3 mm, lobes appressed, dense-rough-hairy, midvein +- thickened, bristles 0 or spreading; corolla deciduous, appendages +- yellow. 

Fruit:nutlets 1--4, fine-grainy to low-tubercled (smooth), +- rough, generally dull, abaxially +- rounded, ridge 0.
