Stem decumbent to erect, 10–50 cm, hairy, glandular

Leaf: blade 5–35 mm, generally obovate, thinly hairy

Inflorescence: involucral tube 4–7 mm, cylindric, hairy, bract 6, awns straight

Ecology: Common. Chaparral, coastal scrub

Elevation: < 1600 m. 

Flower: perianth 6–8 mm, fringe segments on lobe sides widely linear and lobe-like, lobe tip irregular in outline, ± oblong, rounded

Bioregional distribution: w Peninsular Ranges 

Distribution outside California: n Baja California
