Leaf: petiole 1–7 mm; blade 1–4 cm, obovate to ± round, finely toothed to serrate; lateral veins 4–7

Inflorescence: flowers 1–3; pedicel 1–4 mm, 2–6 mm in fruit

Flower: hypanthium 5–8 mm, 8–14 mm in fruit, rim 5–6 mm diam

Fruit: style 5–9 cm

Ecology: Dry, rocky slopes, chaparral

Elevation: < 2500 m.  

Bioregional distribution: Northwestern California, Cascade Range, Sierra Nevada, Central Western California, Transverse Ranges, Peninsular Ranges, Modoc Plateau
