NATIVE

Habit: Perennial herb 5--60 cm, short-hairy on stems. 

Leaf: distal cauline 35--90 mm, lanceolate, clasping, sometimes folded lengthwise, entire, generally glabrous. 

Inflorescence: glabrous to short-hairy, rarely glandular. 

Flower: calyx (4)6--13 mm, lobes lanceolate to ovate; corolla 25--37 mm, +- abruptly expanded into throat, 7--13 mm wide when pressed, blue, generally white inside, glabrous; anther sacs 1.8--3 mm, +- S-shaped, dehiscing in distal 2/3, pubescent on sides; staminode glabrous or tip hairy. 

Ecology: Open sagebrush scrub to subalpine forest; 

Elevation: 850--3800 m. 

Bioregional Distribution:KR, CaR, SNH, TR, GB, n DMtns; 

Distribution Outside California: to Washington, Idaho, Utah. 

Flowering Time: May--Aug
